There is nothing like seeing your little "baby" cry and say "no thank you Mr. Doctor" when she is getting stitched up...
Maddie and I had quite the afternoon at Kohl's, to say the least. We were putting the cart away at the exit of the Alpine Kohl's, when (I swear in SLOW MOTION) I saw Maddie trip, while getting her foot caught on the cart and go head (really lip first) first into the corner of a manikin show case stand. At that moment, I knew there were stitches if not worse in our near future. The amount of blood is what scared her (and me) the most I think...and for all of you who know out much Maddie hates getting dirty...that was a huge issue. :) MY POOR BABY!! Seriously, I did fight the tears while I was holding her and people hustled around me. It's amazing how "mom's" come out of the wood work when things like this happen. I even had a mom offer to drive us down to the hospital so I could sit with her. :) SO.....................
I took some advise from another Mom that helped me and went directly to the ER because I didn't want Maddie to have some nut sowing her lip all funky and I know the Devos Children's Hospital ER is the best. Tom met us down there and we got right in. Maddie was SOOOO brave while getting literally strapped down. They have T.V.s in each of the rooms and she even asked to watch Star Wars...so we know she was going to live. ;) The great staff of course took care of her, putting three stitches in her little lip. The Doctor said she shouldn't have a scar...let's pray.
She looks like a little scrapper and we taught her to say "you should see the other guy." Just in time for her third birthday, three for three. ;)

Oh Maddie munchkin! I am sooo sorry about your accident. But I know that you are a very brave girl and will heal up very quickly. Now you and your cousin Izzy can compare scars--she was 3 years old too when she got her first stitches!! (Must run in the family). We love you bunches and bunches--

Hi, Sweet Pea. We are so sorry for your hurting, but know it will heal. Your brave smile tells it all: "Every day, in every way, I'm getting better and better." We love you so much.
Grandma and Papa
Oh no, Madster!!!!!!!!! This kind of stuff always happens to the sweetest little angels, dang it all! You're a tough cookie, though, so this will breeze by and become a distant memory. Plus you can say you've had stiches...something Aunt KK has never had (yet and knocking hard on wood!). LOVE YOU LOTS!!
O my darling, you look like such a tough girl with your battle wound. I hope you heal fast, you definitely have character now for your party. Make sure your mommy waits on you hand and foot. :):) As I will now be telling Thys because my Grandma always told me (and I hated it) You won't even remember this by the time you get married!!!! LOVE YOU
Awe, poor girl! I feel for you! Madisyn had two sets of stitches (only two each time) in her forehead ten days apart! The amount of blood was just horrific! Thankfully Madilyn’s okay! We’ll be praying that she doesn’t scar!
Seriously!!! Why doesn't stuff happen like this to the crazy boys all around you?? You will heal perfectly and good call on DeVos Laur - they are amazing! Lots of hugs Mads - next time we'll bring Jackson along to get even with the "other guy"!
You look like a tough little girl Maddie!
Popsicles are on the way, little sweetheart! We hope your pretty lips are feeling better soon!
Lo,I had no idea so many angels shopped at Kohl's! What a godsend... glad to hear you are all recovering!
Big hugs!
Maddie - you are so brave! We hope you feel better soon!
Love,
Alyssa and Lauryn Hedstrom
What a toughie! She must take after her Mom! I think Maddie should go and visit Kohls again and give that corner a piece of her mind! Feel better and eat ice cream - it always helps me.
